Peter Haynes BA (Hons), CPFA
Peter Haynes is a Chartered Public Financial Account with 20 years experience working in public services. He is currently the Chief Finance Officer of James Montgomery Academy Trust (JMAT) and is responsible for the strategic financial management and direction of the Trust. He has a bachelor’s degree in Business & Management and is a fully qualified member of the Chartered Institute of Public Finance & Accountancy (CIPFA). Peter has extensive experience in Local Government, education, and the National Health Service. His key areas of knowledge include public finance, education funding, financial systems, and governance.
Prior to joining James Mont gomery Academy Trust Peter spent 10 years developing traded services for Rotherham MBC. During this period he played a key role in re-engineering financial services offered to maintained schools and academies. In 2012 Peter completed the NCSL Certificate in Financial Reporting for Academies. Over the past 3-4 years he has produced statutory accounts for both single and multi-academy trusts.
Sarah has worked within the education sector for a number of years and has been involved in the work of Teaching Schools and Teaching School Alliances since their inception. She is currently the Managing Director of Learners First Schools Partnership (‘Learners First’), a well-established and successful Teaching School organisation based in South Yorkshire. In this role Sarah is responsible for the strategic development of the organisation and oversees all aspects of the partnership’s work, including delivery of its national teaching school responsibilities. This incorporates leadership development, initial teacher training, school-to-school support, specialist leader of education (SLE) designation and deployment, governance and continuing professional development across the school workforce.
More recently within this role, Sarah has led a number of successful tenders awarded by the DfE including the accreditation for the suite of National Professional Qualifications (NPQs) and Strategic School Improvement Fund (SSIF) bids. As a TSA Local Hub Lead, Sarah represents local teaching schools at a strategic level within the sub-regional working alongside DfE and Teaching School Council colleagues.
Previous to her current role, Sarah held roles in the School Effectiveness Service within the Local Authority. She has a BA in English Language and Linguistics and, prior to her work within the education sector, trained as an Editor.
Josh is serving Deputy CEO of a regional MAT, having previously enjoyed leadership roles in both mainstream and special schools / Trusts. Josh has volunteered extensively in both the Academy and other charitable sectors. Alongside his passion for education, Josh is active in grassroots community projects which aim to disrupt social barriers, nurture ambition and improve lives.
Josh holds an MBA, a bachelor's degree in politics, the Advanced Diploma in School Business Management and is a PRINCE2 Project Management Practitioner. Outside professional and voluntary work, Josh enjoys spending time outdoors where his love of cycling is not quite matched by his ability.
Jane Marriott O.B.E.
Jane is a career UK diplomat and is currently High Commissioner (Ambassador) to Kenya. She has been Ambassador to Yemen, Acting Ambassador to Iran and has also been posted to Iraq, Afghanistan and the USA, as well as heading the UK’s Joint International Counter Terrorism Centre.
She is a trustee for the Mines Advisory Group.
Jane grew up in Doncaster, attending Intake First, Wheatley Hills Middle and Danum Comprehensive and wants to remain connected to her hometown and the educational start it gave her in life.
Darren is an experienced leader and educator and is the founder and CEO of the Enquire Learning Trust. In this capacity he works with leaders, teachers, trustees, local governors, and other professionals to enhance leadership, facilitate improvement, foster transformation, and generate quality outcomes for young people. His specialism is in developing strategy, practice, provision, and opportunity through reflection on action, enquiry based learning and powerful communities of practice. Darren has wide experience of governance in public services and has actively supported the foundation and growth of 5 Trusts across the north of England.
Darren has written on a range of leadership issues for academic journals and national publications and has presented at national and international research conventions. His previous experience includes more than 30 years as a teacher, school leader, facilitator, coach, leadership consultant and senior local authority officer. He has worked as a researcher and facilitator for the National College and is currently in the final year of MBA studies.
Darren is a Yorkshire emigre living in the North East. He is married to Suzanne, and they have three grown up children who provide a crucial perspective on learning. In his spare time, he reads widely, tends an allotment, listens to heavy rock, swims wild waters, watches Hartlepool United and picks a mean guitar!
Ellen is a director and co-owner of an HR Consultancy service which provides HR advice and support on employment matters to schools and small businesses in Doncaster and surrounding areas.
Ellen predominantly works closely with schools, academies and multi academy trusts supporting them with complex HR and people management. Ellen has 20 years’ experience working in Human Resources and has worked for both public and private sector organisations and specifically has specialist knowledge with regard to the terms and conditions of employment in educational establishments. Ellen has MSc in Human Resource Management and is a Chartered Member of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD).
Ellen is an experienced governor, previously acting as a Governor of West Road Primary School from 2007 – 2021 and as a Trustee of The Rose Learning Multi-Academy Trust since its inception. In these roles she has been able to offer strategic challenge and support to senior leaders and is passionate about being involved in improving the education and lives of children.
Ellen is very interested in education and education standards and has invested much time in schools and governance. As a parent of two sons, Ellen has supported them through their primary, secondary and university education and is aware not only of the issues and challenges that parents are faced with but also the rewards that can be reaped.
